JUNIOR SECTIONS – AGE DIVISIONS

 A trophy will be awarded to the winner of each section. Medals will be awarded to Top 3 players for each section. Each participant will receive an award for participating.

Special award to best Curro Learner in each section.

Prizes are based on minimum participants. The LOC reserves the right to amend sections and prizes.

 

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT
  1. The closing date for registrations and payment is Thursday, 30 June 2022 at 21h00.
  2. A maximum of 280 players will be allowed to participate in the event.
  3. Registration to be made using the South African Chess Hub website and payment to be made via PayFast or EFT.  A R25 administration fee will be levied if a player request that his registration be changed or requires a refund due to withdrawal from the event.
  4. Banking information will be emailed once booking made. Booking is only confirmed once paid. If EFT payment is not made within 12 hours of booking, LOC reserves the right to cancel booking.
  5. No refunds of entry fees paid will be made for players that withdraw from the tournament after the closing date for entries has passed.

COMMUNICATION
Please join the relevant tournament WhatsApp group to receive information relating to the event:

 

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
1.       ALL players must register via SA Chess Hub.

2.       Tie Break other Sections: 1 Direct Encounter 2.Greater number of Victories  3.Sonneborn-Berger  4.Buchholz

3.       Prize winners must be present at the awards ceremony to receive their prizes. Prize monies will be paid out within 3 days after conclusion of the event. Prize winners will only qualify for one prize (highest amount).

4.       Appeal: An appeal shall be submitted in writing to the CA or TD within 30 minutes after the completion of the specific round in question, accompanied by a fee of R300 {which will be returned if the appeal is successful)

5.       Any player that does not comply with Covid-19 Health and Safety protocols may be expelled from the event.

6.       The LOC reserves the right to waive criteria in all the sections or to cancel the event.

 

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
1.       A total of 280 players will be allowed to participate in the event.

2.       Only players will be allowed to enter the playing venues.

3.       No spectators or parents will be allowed in the playing venues.

4.       Temperature check of all players, support staff, officials and attendees will be done upon entry at the venue.

5.       Any person displaying symptoms associated with Covid-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties) or people who are considered in a high-risk group should not attend.

6.       Sanitisation of chess pieces, sets and surfaces will be done in between rounds, players may bring their own hand sanitizers as well.

7.       Hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance of the venue, as well as at strategic areas inside the venue and toilets. Toilets will have sufficient soap and paper towels as well as marked Covid-19 disposal facilities.

8.       All players must wear masks always covering both their noses and mouths.

9.       All players must adhere to strict social distancing at all times.

10.   Players, support staff and officials over the age of 60 or people with comorbidities will be encouraged to be cautious and minimise exposure.

11.   Players will sign their own scoresheets and report the result to the arbiter. No signing of opponent sheets and no sharing of pens.

12.   No hands will be shaken at the commencement of the round, nor at the end of the match.

13.   Once the players are done with a match, and their results have been recorded, they become “Spectators” and must leave the playing area immediately and reside in the breakaway demarcated area.
