In 1982 the Chess Equipment business was established to manufacture and supply chess equipment to Clubs, Schools, Universities and chess players throughout southern Africa. The purpose was to produce and efficiently supply high quality, long life chess equipment at the lowest possible cost to chess equipment all players of the game. That goal remains today.

Chess Equipment were the innovators of the 10cm square chess coaching board that enables chess coaches to easily teach the game to 20 students or more at a time. Two versions, the folding powder coated steel type and the lighter more mobile vinyl roll-up type are now industry standards. FIDE approved chess clocks are imported from leading worldwide producers and all carry 2 year warranties.

The company also strives to maintain its position as an innovative chess equipment supplier of chess equipment accessories – we produce our own notation books, meaningful and motivational chess novelty items and tournament boards. Thus we remain committed to being the low cost supplier of chess equipment throughout southern Africa.
