Hi, I’m Gerrit — a FIDE National Instructor and passionate chess coach from South Africa with tournament experience and a love for teaching. I’m also a candidate provincial arbiter, giving me a strong understanding of chess rules and event standards.

I focus on helping beginners and intermediate players think critically, understand the game deeply, and build a strong chess mindset — not just memorize moves. My lessons are calm, structured, and tailored to each student, combining opening principles, tactics, endgame basics, and practical advice. Whether you’re starting from scratch or aiming for the next level, I guide you with patience, structure, and purpose.

I teach in English and Afrikaans, depending on the student’s preference.
