Tournament Rules and Regulations

• Clocks: Will be provided at the event.
• FIDE Rules: The latest FIDE rules will apply throughout the tournament.
• Rating: All players’ performances will be rated by CHESS SA.
• Confirmed Payments: Only players with confirmed payments will be added to the draw.
• Cell Phones: Will be
• Safety and Property: The organizer and tournament officials are not responsible for the safety or property of players or spectators.
• Consent for Rating Agencies: By participating, players/parents/guardians consent to their name, surname, gender, race, and date of birth being submitted to rating agencies for the purpose of rating the tournament and displaying it on their respective websites.
• Consent for Photography: Players/parents/guardians give consent for photos to be taken during the tournament and published on our Social Media pages. If consent is not given, please notify us before the tournament.
• Cancellation: The tournament organizers reserve the right to cancel the tournament. Players will have their entry fee refunded in such cases.
• Round Timing: Rounds will be run according to the specified schedule. Please adhere to the round start times to ensure the smooth progression of the tournament.
• Default Time: Blitz games shall have no default time – the time shall just be allowed to expire.
• Appeals: Appeals must be lodged in writing within 10 minutes of the completion of the game in question. There is a fee of R200 per appeal. If successful, the fee will be refunded.
• Notation: Notation is not required for blitz games.
• Spectators: No spectators will be allowed in the playing hall.
• Refunds: No refunds will be issued for withdrawals or no-shows. Refunds will only be provided if the tournament is canceled by the organizers.
