TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
Following the successful 1st Edition of the Young Minds Chess Classic in August 2023, you are invited to join us for an exciting weekend of high-performance chess coaching and competition at the Curro Durbanville Primary School High-Performance Centre in Africa!
The Young Minds Classic is a tournament for invited teams, featuring the best young chess players from the continent.
The event is divided into three main parts: a fun-filled blitz tournament, a high-performance coaching session, and a Classical tournament.
The coaching session will be led by FIDE Instructor Mr. Reuben Salimu, a highly experienced chess coach who has produced over 20 titled players and trained over 350 new coaches. Mr. Salimu runs a big chess program at Curro. This is a unique opportunity for young chess players to receive expert coaching and guidance from one of the best coaches on the continent.
Mr. Salimu will be assisted by FIDE National Instructor Mr. Moses Mutipforo from Zimbabwe, who has been involved in coordinating chess events in Zimbabwe for over 10 years and is also a FIDE National Arbiter. They will also be assisted by Coach Minenhle Mncwabe, Coach Natasha Joubert, Coach Zakkie Jacobs, and Club President Mr. Shaun Somai.
