JUNIOR SECTIONS – AGE DIVISIONS

 *Chess SA Hybrid Main rating will be used. Prizes are based on minimum participants. The LOC reserves the right to amend sections and prizes.

 

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT
  1. The closing date for registrations and payment is Thursday, 3 November 2022 at 21h00. Late entries may be accepted subject to payment of R50 late entry fee.
  2. A maximum of 250 players will be allowed to participate in the event.
  3. Registration to be made using the South African Chess Hub website and payment to be made via PayFast or EFT.  A R25 administration fee will be levied if a player request that his registration be changed or requires a refund due to withdrawal from the event.
  4. Banking information will be emailed once the booking has been made. Booking is only confirmed once paid. If EFT payment is not made within 12 hours of booking, LOC reserves the right to cancel the booking.
  5. No refunds of entry fees paid will be made for players that withdraw from the tournament after the closing date for entries has passed.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
1.       ALL players must register via SA Chess Hub (see instructions below).

2.       Tie Break:  1. Direct Encounter 2. Greater number of Victories 3. Sonneborn-Berger 4. Buchholz

3.       There will be no default time in round 1, however the Chief Arbiter may repair players after 5 minutes. Default time for rounds 2 to 6 will be 10 minutes.

4.       Prize winners must be present at the awards ceremony to receive their prizes. Prize monies will be paid out within 4 days after conclusion of the event. Prize winners will only qualify for one prize (highest amount).

5.       Appeal: An appeal shall be submitted in writing to the CA or TD within 15 minutes after the completion of the specific round in question, accompanied by a fee of R300 {which will be returned if the appeal is successful)

6.       The LOC reserves the right to waive criteria in all the sections or to cancel the event.

7.       No spectators or parents will be allowed in the playing venues.

8.       Once the players are done with a match, and their results have been recorded, they become “Spectators” and must leave the playing area immediately.

9.       Photographs will be taken during the event and the award ceremony. All players are deemed to allow publication of photographs of them taken at the event by the organisers for publicity purposes unless they inform the organisers otherwise.

 

NOTICE TO PARENTS
1.       The safety and well-being of all players outside of the Playing Hall remains the responsibility of the parents of the players. The organisers, school and tournament officials do not provide supervisory or caregiving services to players.

2.       Parents of players are therefore urged to remain present at the venue for the duration of the tournament to supervise their children.

3.       The organisers, school and tournament officials accept no liability for any harm caused to, or damages suffered by any attendee of the tournament (player, parents, siblings or other persons) arising from any cause whatsoever.

4.       There will be a TUCK SHOP available.
